At Martin House School we aim to develop tomorrow’s adults who will be academically and emotionally prepared for the challenges of secondary school. We aim to inspire a love of and respect for their natural environment and the importance of conservation for future generations.
At present, we have three classroom blocks consisting of nine classrooms in total, each with a maximum of fifteen pupils per class. Three of our senior classes are equipped with interactive whiteboards to enhance the learning experience. We follow the National Curriculum for England. English, Mathematics, Science, Geography and History form the core of our day, complimented by French, Music and Physical Education classes. The computer centre is equipped with 15 workstations all with internet access.
The afternoon programme provides age appropriate activities which cater for sport, music, drama, design and technology interests.
The boarding facility can accommodate 30 boys and 30 girls comfortably. Our matron and teachers ensure that prep is done, but that there is also enough time to enjoy our beautiful grounds and play – like children should.
With the acquisition of our new sports field, we now have three hectares dedicated to the development of team sports. The eight lane swimming pool allows us to host interschool galas as well as a venue for waterpolo matches. Our bicycle track provides hours of fun.
At Martin House, we are fortunate to be surrounded by 80 hectares of lush indigenous vegetation, bird and farm life. This allows us to bring the outdoors indoors and the indoors outdoors.
Martin House prides itself on the kind, caring and giving spirits of our children. We strive to develop compassionate human beings who have time for their neighbour.
With this in mind, we started the Random Acts of Kindness campaign to make our children aware that it is the small things in life which make a difference.
We also expanded our Outreach project to the neighbouring Nyamba School, the Children’s Cancer Ward at UTH Hospital in Lusaka and Kanwanduba Community School. Donations vary from books, toys, stationery, blankets and classroom posters which the children designed and decorated.
